The next quilt

Here's the very first block in the next quilt.  Yep, it's autumnal.  Doesn't everyone make autumnal quilts at the beginning of spring?  Why? Because my LQS has the most gorgeous fall color fabrics and I couldn't resist.

Yes, the same block turned around a bit.

Spring Poem, yet again.

Here it is!  The Spring Poem

High up, over the tops
Of the feathery grasses, the grasshoppers hop.
They won't eat their suppers,
They will not obey
Their grasshopper mothers and fathers who say:
"Listen my children, this must be stopped.
Now is the time your last hop should be hopped.
So come eat your suppers and go to your beds."
But the little grasshoppers just shake their green heads.
"no, no," the naughty ones say.

"All we have time to do now is to play.

If we are hungry we'll nip at a fly,
Or nibble a blueberry as we go by.
But not now. Now we must hop.
And no one, but no one can make us stop."

New, new, new!

 A much better set of pictures for the Scrappy Quilt, and a brand new sweater!

And my deliciously warm, woolly sweater.  Cascade 220 in a rust.

The bottom pictures shows off the cables better than the other ones (although the color is way too light).

We are now vaccinated!

 Such excitement!  In a couple of weeks, we can actually go into a supermarket and wander slowly through the aisles.  Wearing our masks, of course, but that's such a non-issue.

Reaction to the shot?  Achy arm, a lot of sweating and such, but now we mostly are lethargic, and that will get better as the day goes on.

Finally!

 A new quilt, appropriately called a Scrappy Quilt, made up of, of course, scraps.  I did buy a few low-volume fabrics, but otherwise, all sorts of scraps went into it.

Binding, which you can't see, is a very lovely orange grunge.

And, here's what's coming next:  A Jacob's Ladder quilt.  These are shots of the layout I'll probably use.

Lots of knitting

 All knitted since November.  First of all, a Kid sweater.  KnitPicks Brava sport, which is inexpensive, washes and wears like iron, and is perfect for an active 8 year old.

Next, 2 pairs of Kid socks, both knitted from sock yarn from KnitPicks.  Soft, washes and wears well, and quite cozy to wear.

And finally, a shawl for DD#2, who requested a warm shawl in a heavier yarn than fingering.  This one is the Satie pattern from Dee O'Keefe, knitted in Miss Babs Yowza, a stunning DK yarn.  I made it a bit shorter than the pattern since it felt large enough and was at the point of heaviness where it was bothering my hands to knit it.  It is still large and cuddly.

On the needles now:  a mismatched helix sock for Miss P, a cabled sweater for me out of Cascade 220, and 2" done of a twist stitch sweater, also for me, in fingering wt yarn.

Quilting?  The Kid's quilt needs 3 more rows attached and then off it goes to Sew Jersey, my local and amazing quilt shop. 

So what else is new?

 Bread, socks.  That's it.

This is a no-knead loaf, mixed together 12 days ago.  It's the last of that batch.  I mixed up another batch while this was baking. All-purpose flour, water, salt, yeast.  The longer you keep it, the more fermented it is.  My dough bucket smelled like a brewery.  Kind of yeasty and wild.

And yet another pair of socks, this one for the Hubz.  Yarn from Earth and Empress.  463 yards and I had leftovers. The Hubz has large feet.
