Sock Madness 9
Every March, the Sock Madness Forever group on Ravelry hosts the annual craziness of competitive sock knitting. This year we have 14 teams, and I'm on Team Lace. AND, I just finished my socks for round 2. I started about 4:30 PM on Fri, and finished up today around 10 AM. Yippee! I've made it to the next round.

Design floor Monday
I've been missing in action due to Sock Madness Forever (#9) on Ravelry. I finished the first round and now I have time to sew again. Yay, sewing!
So, here she is, my Parquet Quilt. I think this is the final layout, but I'll look at it again before sewing the blocks together. It's spoken for already.
And, if you are interested, here's the first pair of socks for SM9, modeled on the Hubz' feet. The top pic shows the mods that I did the correct number of pattern repeats (the safety pins) and that the foot is long enough. Oh, is that foot long enough. Mr. Hubz has large feet!

Sock Madness Forever
Are you on Ravelry? Are you a sock knitter? Are you participating in this year's Sock Madness Forever craziness?
It's beginning! All that crazy, hilarious fun the takes place during March Madness. This is one of THE best forums on Ravelry. The nicest people, the funniest comments. No drama! Just wild and wonderful sock patterns and people knitting their little fingers off to see who can win this madness. The Norwegians and the Dutch seem to be the fastest, but we Americans and Canadians can hold our own.
I cannot do it. My very cranky wrists won't allow that kind of speed knitting. I did try, but was afraid I would injure myself, and that crazy I'm not. Close, but not there. So, I hang out in the treehouse and wave my pompoms and cheer. That's as much fun as the zippy knitting.
AND, I dye yarn. For the last few years, I've been dyeing 3 colorways for the group. I offer a terrific price for the yarn, and keep shipping as low as possible. First Class Shipping is very affordable, so if you take my price and add in the shipping, you will still get a price comparable or often less than a retail store.
BUT, you have to be a member of SM Forever to get that price.
Here are this year's colorways. The mods have picked two flowers, Columbine and Scilla, and I've done a combo for variegated yarn lovers. The yarn is, of course, Penny yarn. 450+ yards, 75/25 superwash merino/nylon, glorious yarn to knit with. Machine wash if you will; I hang my socks to dry.
In order: Columbine, Scilla, and Bouquet.

SM8 yarns are dyed to order, so that I don't end up with too many of one colorway and too few of another. Please relax and know that you won't be getting your yarn immediately since I have to dye up. I've been doing this for a few years and have my routine established, and it works out very well.

Card Tricks
Here's what's on my design floor as of this morning: Card Tricks. As usual, I'm doing this with English paper piecing. Yep, I know, it takes forever and sewing it on the machine would just zip along, but I love this method, and can do it any place and any time and am not dependent on the machine. It's sort of like knuckle ballers in the baseball world: we EPP folk love our weird little method. We're not the norm, but who cares?
Dyeing: I'm doing a large job for Sock Madness 7. Three colors to choose from, and priced very very well. Unfortunately, first class international shipping is going up drastically on Sat, and that affects my international customers. The rates are doubled, which is just awful. Domestic is fine as it is. If you're on Ravelry and are in the SM7 group, you can buy in my Etsy shop. You know the password for the good price.
Knitting: Making a baby jacket for the Bunny Child. No pics yet. But it's very cute.
