and on and on. There'll be about 121 of these little guys, and I've done 28, so we're all going to get very tired of them soon. But since I'm posting these as a log of what I'm doing, I'll continue to post and yawn. Here are the latest 5. Click on a pic to embiggen it and get a much better idea of how the blocks really look.
Photographed on the porch floor. It's so sunny out that I am looking for a good spot to take pics. This next one is on the kitchen floor. The reality of the color is probably closer to the top picture.
And here are the rest, all on the porch floor:
Happy Birthday to me. Older, with a couple more aches, wrinkles, and other aging moments. But it's awfully good to be alive! The other day I realized that I have known people born in the late 1800's, 1900's and 2000's. My grandmas were born around 1875 and 1885. My dad in 1909 and my mom in 1914. And my sister and I and our kids were born in the mid-late 1900's. Grands in the 2000's. Pretty neat, no?

A woman of a certain age
That's me. Yesterday was a BIG birthday. I can no longer pretend I'm middle aged. Nope, moved upward and onward.
The Hubz had all sorts of celebrations scheduled, and the snow messed it all up. But, it all turned out to be a wonderful birthday!
Flowers, gift certificates, apron, cards, phone calls. It was glorious!
And the pièce de résistance? Only my favorite potato chips in the whole wide world! I might not share any of it, either.
I'm so blessed! Thank you all for making my 70th such a delight! And for those of you who think that I'm now over the hill, um, nope. It gets better the older you are. The body isn't what the body was, but then whenever was the body the way it was? But the brain, the emotional maturity. Wow!

Happy Birthday to the Mommie!
Mystery Sock Clue #2 posted below.
We interrupt all the lovely socking going on around here to announce that today is the Mommie's 94th birthday!
Yay, the Mommie!
We celebrated her birthday on Sunday at my sister's house. All the kids were there except for the Minnesota crowd. It was lovely. My sister now lives in my mom's house, and has made a few changes here and there but it's still very much as my mother left it.
I was kind of nervous about the Mommie's reaction to going to "her" house, and she was too. She told me she was afraid she would cry, but she didn't. She said it was a treat, and she had such a wonderful day.
We ate and laughed and talked nonstop the way the family did when we were kids: 8 people all talking loudly and at the same time. At least 4 conversations going on simultaneeously, and everyone knowing what anyone else was talking about and jumping into the middle of other conversations. In short, the family chaos. I loved every minute of it. When we were kids, we'd go to our grandparents every Saturday. There would always be company there. And we'd have Jause (an Austrian custom of coffee and eats in the afternoon), and everyone would argue about politics and such.
When we brought the Mommie back home, she told me that if I have an old age like her old age, I'll be a very lucky woman. She feels very loved. I have tears in my eyes as I'm typing this. Whadda woman she is!
shortoldlady - Thanks for the Mommie b-day wishes. She's the Mommie!

Today I am a Birthday Girl, ok a Birthday Woman!
Yup, it's the annual natal day. I've moved one year further into Old Broad status. I think I see the beginning of a very tiny wrinkle. But compared to the Mommie, I'm a young chippie.
My sweet Hubbo got me the pair of earrings that I picked out (see some earlier post), a card, a cute mug that he found at a thrift shop, a box of teas that I know he found either on significant sale at some store or at a garage sale, and, best of all, one of those little pocket calendars that you get for free at the stationery store. I needed one of those so badly and all that I found that were left were big calendars. Yay, Hubbo! And, he wrapped the tea box up in Chanukah wrapping paper.
I love the weird and wonderful Hubbo gifts. I'm at the point where I can buy anything (within reason) that I want. I used to buy a lot of yarn, but now that I'm dyeing it, I hardly buy any. And my clothing needs are way down, so that expense is almost non-existent. So, I don't need much and consequently don't buy much. But the Hubbo always finds these interesting things at his thrifting moments. So it's always fun to get gifts from him. I never know what they will be.
We visited the Benster and his parents yesterday. He is the cutest 2 year old in the universe. I'm madly in love with him. What a sunny disposition! He gets it from his parents, who are just wonderful people. I have nice step kids.
And speaking of kids, Minneapolis DD, SIL, and Miss P are coming for part of Passover. And NYC DD and her guy and coming for seder too. So in April I'll have the whole gang here. Plus the Mommie and everyone else. I think I said this already. See, the mind is going south.
Today we're going for lunch at a place in Stockton that serves home-made marshmallows in their hot chocolate. I never, ever remember the name of the restaurant, but it is not the Stockton Inn.
Knitting news: I finally finished the Ripples and Waves Socks. I'm now planning the next one. Will post pics when I have something to post. All I've done is cast on.
Hi, Kay, Emily and Pamudom - Thanks for your birthday wishes. I really had a pleasant quiet birthday.
Holly - That is so true. When you're young, you want presents. When you're on the downward slide from middle age, giggles and a present are just wonderful!
Grace - The name of the restaurant in Stockton is Meil's. Let me tell you about their almond crescent french toast. Whoo Hoo!
