Dyeing news: the last two in this latest series.

Knitting News: Ahem, I, the dyer, am embarrassed to admit that I just got 15 skeins of Palette from Knit Picks. At that price, how could I not buy them. It takes much more effort to dye these guys than to just pay the $1.99/skein. Ok, heathers are a little bit more. So now I have 15 lovely skeins and don't know what to do with them. It isn't easy, you know. I'm thinking of maybe a tumbling blocks pattern, but I'm not sure if I have the patience for that. On the other hand, who's in a hurry anyway. I only have tons of UFOs all over the house, so what's one more. Have any of you knit one of these? Will I tear my hair out?

The Yarnarian is Sleepless in New Jersey

I had 3 hours of sleep last night. Therefore I am not responsible for any typos, ridiculous comments or anything else. I'm floating out in lala land. I was going to accomplish so much today. Nope.

Dyeing news: More pretties that I dyed up on Monday.

Pesky Pixie and Yummy (Linda and Rose yarns). Pesky Pixie (try saying that 10 times) is a very pretty combo of peach, rose, and the prettiest blue/green going. Don't ask me how I got that green color; it was pure luck. Yummy is off white with blueberry and magenta. We are talking a pretty yarn here.




Turkey Trot and Mountain Woman (both Linda yarn). Turkey Trot is a goofy rainbow of purps, greens, yellows, magentas,and whatever happens when they intersect. Mountain woman is avocado, various soft blues and purps, kind of like the mountains from a distance.




That should keep you occupied for an hour or two.

Knitting news: I'm working on a super secret project. OK, it's the scarf pattern for the sock club. I'm liking it a lot. No pics, of course.

The Yarnarian Dyes Pretty Yarns!

Yup, that's what I've been doing, in between dealing with some family crises. Do you find that knitting or crochet are soothing when you're dealing with real messes? I do too. And I also like dyeing for a bit of stress relief. So here are what I did the other day:

Judith Fingering Wt Lace Yarn: Veneer and Red! Veneer is a combo of 2 browns; Red! is really a gorgeous blue red, but my camera wants to make it an orange red. NOT.




Rose Yarns: Yup, I found some Rose yarn in my yarn room; I had forgotten all about it. Pretty Posey, Coffee-Fudge Swirl, Key Lime Pie and Choco-Mint Ice cream!






Rachel Yarn: Pond and Rainbow Brick:




Penny Long Skein (2 skeins of this one). Dyed in an 8+ yard skein, so with some real stiping possibilities: Serenade. This needs to be reskeined obviously. I do it on the sun porch, but it is already so hot today that it will have to wait.

Ruth in Ottawa - If I'm knitting in extreme tension, then I will knit much tighter than my gauge ought to be. But if I'm knitting under more normal miserable stress, as in now, then my knitting is fine. It is very soothing to do, and if I don't have time to decompress with my knitting, I'm not a happy camper.

Henya - Things are getting better in the world of Chez ruth. Thank G-d! Enough craziness for a long time. And it came in threes, so maybe there will be a nice long time after this when things just bumble along. Bumble is good.

Probably Jane - Yup, the dyeing helped a lot. So now I'm waiting for the sotm yarn to arrive so that I can get that finished. Should be here on Tues.

The Yarnarian Has Her Dyeing Mojo Back!

DM, aka Dyeing Mojo, comes and goes. Right now it's spot on, which makes me a very happy camper given that I need to do some serious dyeing! giggle.

First of all, 2 very pretty and exciting Penny yarns: Merry-go-round and Mysterious.




Next are 2 Bambi yarns: Pretty Girl and Shale.




One lone Rose yarn: Stained Glass.



And, ta da, the return of KONA! Yup, that wonderful yarn that I sold this time last summer. I have a bit of it left, and if it goes, I'll order more. Here are the essentials: 100% superwash merino, fingering wt, in 1100 yard skeins. There's enough to make a shawl, stole, scarves, even lots of socks. Or a matching scarf and a pair of socks or whatever you wish. You have to knit with it to believe how soft and lovely it is. At the moment, the price is $35/skein + shipping; it may go up a little bit if I order more depending on how much it costs me. Even with that price, this is great value for the buck. These are big skeins, so figure on the shipping being a bit more to non-domestic places.





Knitting News: Not too much except for making my way to finishing the cashmere scarf and working on the lace yarn one. However, in a moment of total madness, I decided to knit Miss P an AG doll outfit. I found a lovely pattern for many pieces on the web, bought and downloaded it. I got about 2 inches into the skirt when I knew that the AG doll would swim in it. Frogged (so what else is new?), changed the pattern for my gauge, and knit this. I have about 3/4" to go, but at 280 stitches per round, it's taking me a while to get it done. Yarn is Tofutsies.



I'm planning on knitting a top to it out of white Dale Baby Ull with the skirt yarn as trimming.

I just want to share the latest dyeing adventure with you. Clearly I was in a very happy spot when I dyed these. ;-) The top 3 are Emily lace yarn; the rest are Rose sock yarn. All to be gradually listed in the shop over the next week. As usual, if you want one, let me know, and I'll save for you.

Postscript: I cleaned and straightened and tossed and I hated every minute of it. So there. Piffle to maturity.
