Here's what I've accomplished this week.

Knitting

Crochet

Afghan for Penny.  

I'm almost finished with the length, and then I'll add to the width.

A new scarf for me, crocheted in Gina, and using the same pattern as the afghan above.

Quilting

The rose block continues.  I need a name for this.

Two yarns from the same dyes, one dyed with all the colors at full capacity, and the other dyed with the leftover solution from the first dyeing.  Isn't it interesting to see how different they are?

A new block

Here is my Rose Block.  It's an EPP block.  My points are not perfect but then I'm not perfect, so we get along just fine.  I have enough material to make more blocks, so I think I'll expand it.  Right now it's a 12" square.

Yarn News:  The Blues, a PennyRose Penny yarn.  75% superwash merino/25% nylon.  450+ yards

Blues, teals, and (what you can't see) a bit of purply blue tossed in.  Most of the hues are of the same value, with a little lighter values here and there.  It would make splendid socks, as well as shawlettes, baby gear, whatever you like for fingering weight.
As with most of my yarns, this is a one-of-a-kind colorway.  That's how I like to dye.

Ah ha!  The Blues just sold!

Bundles of PennyRose Rachel yarn

Look at these!  3 sets of Rachel yarn bundled together with a very good price to save you some money.  Ordinarily, Rachel yarn sells for $21/skein.  These bundles, selling for $36, brings the price down to $18/skein.  Not bad for an Election Day treat.

Rachel is a wonderful fingering weight yarn with a lovely little twist that will make your stitches pop.  400 yards of superwash merino.  Mmmmmmmm.  Yummy stuff.  I love making scarves and shawls out of this yarn.  It feels so good against your neck. 

I'm so happy to be back in business again.  It feels like normal.  My spirits are much improved!

We have mail

Happiness is getting our mail from the last 12 days.  Best part is a package of pretty fabric (yep, I was weak), and no bills.  I like no bills very much! 

I joined the first block together.  I am so loving this.  And I really do love English paper piecing.  My points come together without me cursing. 

PennyRose Yarns is back!

Yippee!  After a horrendous year, with both our moms passing away, I'm finally feeling a bit more human.  So to celebrate, I'm back to dyeing yarn.  Just a little bit at a time; that quilting is always calling me, but the urge to knit and dye is coming back.  I'm so pleased. 
I spent much of the last year taking my mom to various doctors, hospital visits, etc, etc.  And my dear mother-in-law was ill for such a long time, too.  We went up to MA a lot to visit.  It's time to get back to living.

Toffee Lili Lace Yarn, with that incredible 875 yards of merino.  A bit heavier than "normal" lace yarn, it works up very easily and is a pleasure to wear and to knit or crochet.  $33.00 + shipping.

Here's Tracy Benji yarn, 470+ yards of superwash merino.  No nylon, so probably not for socks, but makes lovely shawlettes and baby clothing.  $21.00 + shipping.

Nov 5 - Design Wall Monday

Hunter's Star!

What's new?  Hunter's Star.  I got bored with Nuts and Bolts and decided to start this one.  I'm loving it totally.  It is a 12" square.  Something much larger than my usual itty bitty work, but such a delight.  It actually goes rather quickly.

Nuts and Bolts is just about finished with the little blocks.  I have enough for one more row on the side and bottom, so I think I'll do that and then figure out what's next.
Do you think I should put a border on?  Color?  Solid?  Pattern?  I have no more fabric left, so I'd have to buy.  Should I do a border using the same fabric as the white squares?  What do you think?

Mommie news:  She would have been 98 yesterday.  I miss her more and more.  The realization that I will never see or hear or touch her again is so hard.  I miss my mom.

Other news:  The tree is where it was last week.  We are now waiting for 2 companies to tell us when they can remove it.  In the meantime, I can't go anywhere except on foot.  Trains are not running yet, and Crunchy the Car is trapped inside the garage.  It's not a biggie, mostly the idea that I can't get to the gym, etc, etc.  But I can go out for a nice long walk, and that's not half bad.

We're supposed to get yet another nor'easter on Wed and Thurs.  That's a bunch more wind and rain.  I have to admit that I'm nervous about this.  We have plenty of food and water, and have a gas stove if the power goes out again.  And we know how to cope with no power, but the nights are in the 30's now, and it's worrisome.  Well, we'll do what we have to do.  Folks down the shore have it so much worse.  What they don't need is another storm.  Keep your fingers crossed, folks, that it's just a piddly little storm with no damage.
