Heigh Ho, heigh ho, it's off to dye I go.

OK, it's off to dye I went.  Yesterday.  I had a yen to dye up some pretty colorways.

Top row, the first two and the second from the right are all Heather Yarn, a lovely yarn that dyes 2 values at the same time.  How?  A couple of the plies are in non-superwash wool, and the other ply is superwash.  Superwash takes up dye immediately, the regular wool take a lot longer to take the color, so you get a barber-pole effect.  However, it knits up as a marled yarn.  Very interesting and complex.  Fingering weight, no nylon, and perfect for scarves and such.  You can make socks, but you'll have to hand wash them in cold water.

420 yards of fingering weight yarn that's lofty and lovely to knit or crochet with.

Here they are:  Orangeade, Jenny, and Candy.

This next batch are Rachel yarns.  100% SW (superwash) merino with a neat little twist that really shows off your stitches.  400 yards of delicious woolliness.

Clown, Grete, Lemon, Parrot, Tropical Fish., Vermillion, and Wood Grain

Bundles of PennyRose Rachel yarn

Look at these!  3 sets of Rachel yarn bundled together with a very good price to save you some money.  Ordinarily, Rachel yarn sells for $21/skein.  These bundles, selling for $36, brings the price down to $18/skein.  Not bad for an Election Day treat.

Rachel is a wonderful fingering weight yarn with a lovely little twist that will make your stitches pop.  400 yards of superwash merino.  Mmmmmmmm.  Yummy stuff.  I love making scarves and shawls out of this yarn.  It feels so good against your neck.

I'm so happy to be back in business again.  It feels like normal.  My spirits are much improved!

PennyRose Yarns is back!

Yippee!  After a horrendous year, with both our moms passing away, I'm finally feeling a bit more human.  So to celebrate, I'm back to dyeing yarn.  Just a little bit at a time; that quilting is always calling me, but the urge to knit and dye is coming back.  I'm so pleased.
I spent much of the last year taking my mom to various doctors, hospital visits, etc, etc.  And my dear mother-in-law was ill for such a long time, too.  We went up to MA a lot to visit.  It's time to get back to living.
Here are the first two yarn listed today.  There will be more and more, including a few bundles, but this is a good place to start.

Toffee Lili Lace Yarn, with that incredible 875 yards of merino.  A bit heavier than "normal" lace yarn, it works up very easily and is a pleasure to wear and to knit or crochet.  $33.00 + shipping.

Here's Tracy Benji yarn, 470+ yards of superwash merino.  No nylon, so probably not for socks, but makes lovely shawlettes and baby clothing.  $21.00 + shipping.

I think I'm back.

Benji Yarn!

It's been a busy summer, what with visiting family in MN, have 2 separate grandchild visits, attempting to run a little business. OK, my attempts at that business were pretty minuscule, but hey, it was very hot, I had to catch up on life after grands' visits, and that's my story.

Friday was The Kid's last day of his visit, and the Hubbo had to go to work, so we hung out all day. I did the never-ending laundry, baked some bread, and finally did some good dyeing. He played endless games on the computer, watched tons of TV, and never did get dressed. In short, it was a wonderful day to hang out.

I dyed up some Benji yarn. Benji is skinny fingering weight yarn, 100% SW merino with over 470 yards of yarny goodness. It looks fluffy and fat. NOT! It's rather skinny, even skinnier than Penny yarn, but when it's all dyed up in the skein, it looks big and poofy. The minute you start knitting with it, it gets back to where it lives as a 3-ply fingering yarn. The yardage gives it a lot of yarn for the buck and it's perfect for shawlettes, scarves, and even socks. There's no nylon in it, so if you destroy your socks, this is not the yarn to use.

So here are some of the yarns I did. More either tomorrow or Wed.

Sharon - The first one is based on an embroidery floss thread that I own. The second one has lots going on, but then I overdyed it all with that wonderful reddish brown that I love, and all those colors kind of came together.
